Coaching is a gift offered to pioneers and other missional leaders to help them go further and faster in response to God's call. Coaching equips people to thrive in complexity, because there is no one right answer to declining Christian affiliation and church attendance. A coach helps a thinker:
- Discover their gifts, power, purpose and identity so that they can get out of their own and others’ way;
- Engage with complexity, because they can learn to tolerate not knowing the ‘right’ answer, and
- Experiment, cultivating a mindset of acting, reflecting and acting again choose between many possible right answers, experimenting and taking holy risks.
At its simplest, coaching is the facilitation of another's thinking.
